Lake Mountain (PZ11) Idaho, a STOL paradise
Notam v1.1 released to remove a bug introduced with SU5
Conveniently situated between Landmark USFS and Indian Creek USFS, Lake Mountain is one of the unexplored areas of Idaho.
The runway is at an elevation of 8,500' and the 800' long dirt strip has a gentle upslope to help with braking, if you have to go around go to the left!
Slightly north of the main strip are two other landing locations, the first ridge is called the Widow maker for good reason, the second strip nearer to the mountain cafe is called Nah ridge, according to the locals.
Everyone I've asked about the ridge just said "Nah, that's a bad idea" and tell me of a Bush League Legend who tried to land on the ridge. After surviving the landing he left his plane there and walked 10 miles down the mountain to the Warm Lake Shoreline muttering 'Nah, that was a bad idea". He can still be found sitting in the WP8 cafe, his callsign was 'Carbon Prop' but now he answers to 'Cronch' ;)
