The default version of the Kalma airport in MSFS is at least 7 years out of date, so I created this to make sure it is usable in this sim. To install, simply place both folders within the zip file in your sim's Community folder (its location will vary depending on which platform you use and where you installed the sim).

Kalma was originally a military airfield, however in 2013, Kim Jong-Un approved plans to completely redesign the airport for passenger service and a new terminal was opened in 2015. The first Wonsan Air Festival was held here in 2016 and the second was scheduled for 2017 but was cancelled. The airport has remained somewhat dormant with very limited commercial use; perhaps as few as zero domestic flights as of 2017 according to an inside source.

Known issues (currently no plans to fix):

  • There are 2 windsocks as well as a powerline that occupy a taxiway and an apron. As of right now, this cannot be fixed due to SDK limitations.
  • Buildings shapes and types are inaccurate. This is something I hope to fix by learning to model buildings myself or recruiting someone to help (contact me if interested).

Feb 2 2023

It has come to my attention that a feature has (very smartly) been added in order to mark sceneries as functional or non-functional for each sim update. I neglected to check the compatibility with each some update for some time, but today I have confirmed it to still be working in SU11.

There's some good news for Navigraph Unlimited users too: SIDs and STARs as well as approaches are available for Kalma, so you can program them in your flights! Sadly, there are no charts, however, but this is still very helpful to fly to the aiport.

Now for some bad news: I no longer have any plans or motivation to continue to improve this scenery. This does not necessarily mean that I will never update it, however it is unlikely. I may update it again if it ceases to work after a sim update, but for now, it will remain as it is, in an incomplete but usable state.
