La Comunidad Autónoma despliega un importante conjunto de medios aéreos para la prevención y lucha contra los incendios forestales, constituyen un elemento indispensable para lograr una rápida llegada de los primeros medios al incendio, realizar una evaluación de su peligrosidad y posible evolución, e iniciar los trabajos de ataque.

En Aragón, hay un helicóptero activo durante todo el año en Alcorisa y, en los primeros meses del año, se incorporaron otros dos más en Ejea de los Caballeros y Peñalba, de tal forma que hay un helicóptero por provincia para atender los posibles incendios de la campaña invernal.
El resto de medios aéreos operados por la Comunidad Autónoma se incorporan con carácter general el 1 de junio (Teruel, Calamocha, Brea de Aragón, Bailo, Boltaña)
Todas las aeronaves están dotadas de equipos de seguimiento de flotas a través de GPS (Global Positioning System) que permiten conocer las posiciones desde los Servicios Centrales, Provinciales y Puesto de Mando Avanzado. En 2016, 2017 y 2018 se cuenta además con sistemas de captura y envío automático de imágenes, además de en el helicóptero de coordinación, en los helicópteros de Boltaña, Peñalba, Alcorisa, Ejea de los Caballeros y Teruel
