In 1997 the California Air National Guard experimented with possibly using F-14Bs as their new air defense fighter. This was due to the uncertainty caused by McDonnell Douglas going into bankruptcy and the possibility of no longer being able to obtain parts and perform vital maintenance for their current F-15Cs. Northrop Grumman, with the permission of the United States Navy, allowed a CDR Mitchell currently serving as a liason/project manager on the F-14D/(A)ST-21, to undertake an exchange assignment with the California Air National Guard. One day while showcasing the F-14Bs abilities he performed a landing on the CVN-77 USS George H. W. Bush. Eventually it was found out the supply chains and production would not be disrupted by the McDonnell Douglas bankruptcy/Boeing take over, and the project was abandoned. CDR Mitchell returned to Virginia later serving as a squadron commander for VF-14 deploying the first carrier born ordinance during Operation Enduring Freedom on Oct 7 2001. I couldn't make up a good story why Lt Bradshaw was back. Great job! Looks good.
