TESTED IN LATEST DECEMBER 2020 MFS UPDATE. WORKS GREAT!
=====================================================================
As an Alpha/ beta tester, it was a common complaint for a huge number of us that the tree height in MFS2020 was way too large. It seems like nothing was really done about this, or we were told it had to be adjusted from one region to another. Well…not so.
I found one simple XML file that , when certain numbers are tweaked, adjust tree height for the majority of the Conifer and Deciduous trees .

INSTALLATION : **This NEW VERSION 2.0 , simply goes into the Community folder**. The earlier version had a complicated install path into the root MSFS vegetation folder. This version is a cleaner install and un-install : -
COPY THE FOLDER ' ShorterTreesArifStudios' into your community folder.
===============================================================
(FOR VERSION 1 users ONLY:
1. First rename the '10-asobo_speciesORIGINAL' file by deleting "ORIGINAL" .
2. Then copy this back into your MSFS / onestore/ fsbase/ VEGETATION folder. For Steam users, the path may be different, but you have to get to the /.../fsbase/vegetation folder. (Doing the above step returns your MSFS to the latest , original , default file).
3. Then copy the above ' ShorterTreesArifStudios' into your community folder.

The screenshots above are surely without the plugin? The trees are huge. Please tell me this isn't with your update.

I can't remember what changes I made in the vegetation folder originally, can you provide those instructions again so I can reverse the changes? I don't like making changes to core systems files and want to check I reversed it out....thanks!
Open your MFS2020 folder…(where ever it is installed)Navigate to OFFICIAL_ONESTORE_FSBASE_VEGETATION
(the actual folder path may be different but basically this file goes into the FSBASE/ VEGETATION FOLDER)
Drop the file 10_ASOBO_SPECIES in there and you should be good to go!
STEAM USERS : Your folder path may look different, something like this :
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\vegetation
(My zip file has a backup of the original in case you dont like this file.
Just erase the ORIG at the end , if you prefer keeping the original MFS2020 10AsoboSpecies file.

Try this version 2.0 and tell me how your draw distance looks

I love this - thank you. Great job.
I have a question for you - can you change the draw distance as well? There is another mod that extends draw distance but it overwrites the tree height.
Not to worry if you cannot - i prefer these trees and can put up with the low draw distance (even though I have ultra setting for tree and tried lod changes to no avail.....etc).
Mod here for distance ....

hello kingnothing75,
I have been using your fix for a long time, today I made a comparison in the city of Naple, and whether it is with your fix or not, the trees remain as big as the buildings.
Is it possible that with the last update your fix no longer works?
thank you

I take it there's no way to put this into a mod package, it's read to early or that location and or file type just isn't modifiable via mod replacement?

Great job on this.. Much, much needed! It's amazing the difference it makes.. it makes the sim even more immersive and real.. and makes you realise how ridiculous the originial tree sizes actually were!

I would always support more realism with things like this...but I am wondering whether decreasing the size of trees creates the end effect of lowering the perceived tree density?

Great. I was complaining about this since day 1. I live in the tropics and we do not have such a luxurious vegetation.

And mine (Steam) was Microsoft Flight Simulator/Official/Steam/fs-base/vegetation
