Junkers JU-52 Canadian Airways Limited CF-ARM Pack
Version 1.5.2 – SU8 Mirroring texture fixed
What’s new:
Wheels, floats, skis, and modern liveries variants available with no mirroring issues, so the specific no mirrored livery was no longer required. Confirmed SU8 compatibility. Changed names of “Standard” liveries to “Custom” liveries to indicate that the tail ID can be customized. Allow user choice of separate or complete downloads of packages.
Description:
This livery set is based on the rebuilt Junkers Ju 52 /1m retrofit located at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada. This Ju 52 was one of the original first six built. In 1931, when the Junkers arrived in Canada, it was the largest aircraft in the country and was nicknamed of the “Flying Boxcar.” It was registered as CF-ARM and flew cargo missions for Canadian Airways Limited and later Canadian Pacific Airlines from 1931 to 1947. It was also equipped with floats and skis. A modern livery is included, based on the livery paint of the museum display.
The historic Junkers Ju 52 Canadian Airways CF-ARM livery set includes:
1931-32 Wheels, Floats, and Skis liveries
1936 Floats liveries
1937 Skis liveries
1940 Wheels liveries
2021 Modern liveries
Each variant comes with a default version (accurate fuselage lettering) and custom (less historically accurate fonts, but can customize tail ID). Each livery variant is standalone and can be installed all together or separately. So now you can haul various cargo all year across the vast Canadian wilderness and land either at airports, airfields, waterways or snow covered bush runways.
Thanks to Oliver Moser for creating the Junkers JU-52 model with Asobo/Microsoft. He has provided an update to fix a model texture mirroring issue. Special thanks go to user GulKalle for sharing his no mirroring door fix that was used in this livery pack before the update.
Issues:
I had to make a few concessions for this livery set. First, the original CF-ARM had only one engine, so I left the paint scheme for the additional two engines. Second, the location of the Canadian Airways Limited logo had to be moved slightly below the window. The custom version of the liveries have less historically accurate fonts, but the tail ID can be changed.
Download:
I am providing separate downloads for user choice. The Pack download contains everything in both the Main and Custom livery packs. The Main Pack contains the historically accurate liveries. The Custom Pack contains liveries with which you can modify the tail ID, but the fonts are not historically accurate.
Installation:
Note: If upgrading, remove any old CF-ARM livery folders before installing V.1.5.2.
Unzip and place the livery folders that you want to install in your Community directory. Leave the Aircraft Customization ATC options blank (Tail Number, Call Sign, and Flight Number) when flying the main CF-ARM liveries. If you wish to customize your tail ID, use the “Custom” liveries during your flights.

Notes:
This is my first published livery for MSFS, and my first time using Blender. It was quite a learning process and took me a lot longer than I thought it would. Please leave me questions or comments. I hope you enjoy it. I may add more features depending upon updates to the model and available time...
Cheers,
Strykai
Very nice livery. Thank you.
I wanted to pass along some info that might be helpful. Initially, I could not get the tablet working in the "modern" version. After comparing the panel.cfg to additional additional liveries for the modern version, I tried adding this prior to the VpaintingXX sections in panel.cfg:
[VARIATION]
override_base_container = 0
and that resolved the issue.

I Love your livery but with FS2020 1.24.5 the boss of propellers are in pink colour a cfg texture problem. 😊

Thank you, I'll have a look when I get some time.
Edit: Okay, I see the problem is with the two non-mirroring wheeled livery variations. I'll try to work on it this weekend.
2nd edit: I just noticed that the Junkers JU-52 devs have corrected the mirroring issue on the side door, so the no mirroring wheeled livery variations are no longer required. I will remove them in a future update. For now, use the normal default (non-standard) liveries.

Good job I love it , the only problem it's adding range, I can do 3,000Km (like it's adding the original 1000km for each engine)

Thanks, I appreciate your comments and feedback.
I added the extra range because of the article "Flying Box Car for Sky Lanes of Northland" in the May 1932 issue of Popular Mechanics from p. 742 that mentioned the ability to add two extra fuel tanks on board to increase the range of the flying box car to 1863 miles, which is close to 3000 km. I don't know if they did that or not for flights but the possibility existed to save time from refuelling on longer trips. Excellent work, thank you for sharing. Small problem I encountered with your livery is the rt. engine prop disc does not animate. The spinner is animated but not the actual disc. Other 2 engines are fine. Default livery works ok.

Thank you for your complements and comments! Yes, the issues with the no mirroring model are currently unavoidable; hopefully this will change. I have now noted these in the Issues section since it's difficult to go through the wall of text that I wrote to find all of these details.

As soon as I found out that there was a Junkers Ju 52 that flew in Canada, I bought it and immediately set out to recreate CF-ARM. The project just grew from there...

Thank you! Despite the model being a challenge I'm enjoying this. I'm working on this livery because it was an important part of Canadian aviation history.
